Cost

Cost Explorer lets you analyze Databricks spend, usage, and savings across business units, cost centers, workspaces, and clusters over time. It provides a set of APIs that power chargeback dashboards, budget tracking, and drill‑down investigations into where costs originate and how they are changing.

The Cost Explorer APIs expose:

These APIs serve as the foundation for chargeback, showback, and budgeting workflows in Databricks‑specific Unravel deployments.

High‑level cost and savings summaries with projections for future periods.
Entity counts for governance and inventory views (business units, cost centers, users, workspaces, clusters).
Time‑series trends at business‑unit and cost‑center levels to help you spot anomalies or growth patterns.

Chargeback

Chargeback is implemented through three core Cost Explorer APIs that work together to support allocation and showback workflows.

Cost Summary API: Returns overall cost, savings, and projections for a selected period, including total cost, month‑to‑date cost, projected monthly and fiscal‑year spend, and neglected cost.
Entry Counts API: Provides counts of business units, cost centers, users, workspaces, and clusters for a selected date range so you can understand the allocation population.
Cost Trends API: Exposes time‑series cost data by business unit and cost center for a given duration, helping you analyze how allocated costs evolve over time.

Cost Summary API

Use this API to retrieve overall cost, savings, and projections for a selected time period, including total cost, month‑to‑date cost, projected monthly and fiscal‑year costs, and year‑to‑date neglected cost.
