Install Unravel on Azure VM
Install prerequisites on Azure VM

  1. Install ntpd.

    sudo su -
yum install ntp
ntpd -u ntp:ntp

  2. Prepare the data disk with at least 500 GB that was added to Azure VM. Use fdisk -l to check any 500 GB disk without partition (usually /dev/sdc).

    1. List disks and partitions.

      fdisk -l
fdisk -l /dev/sdc

    2. Format the disk /dev/sdc.

      /usr/sbin/mkfs -t ext4 /dev/sdc

    3. Mount the disk /dev/sdc on /srv.

      mkdir -p /srv
DISKUUID=`/usr/sbin/blkid |grep ext4 |grep sdc | awk '{ print $2}' |sed -e 's/"//g'`
echo $DISKUUID
echo "${DISKUUID} /srv ext4 defaults 0 0" >> /etc/fstab
cat /etc/fstab
mount /dev/sdc /srv

    4. Verify the disk space.

      df -hT /srv

    5. Set permissions for Unravel and symlink Unravel's directories to the /srv mount.

      mkdir -p /srv/local/unravel
chmod -R 755 /srv/local
ln -s /srv/local/unravel /usr/local/unravel
chmod 755 /usr/local/unravel

  3. Install MySQL client.

    yum install mysql

  4. Install DBFS CLI.

    yum install https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/epel-release-latest-7.noarch.rpm
sudo yum install python-pip
sudo pip install databricks-cli
